Hello and welcome! I’m Minxing Liu, a PhD student in Computational Neuroscience. This site is where I’ll be sharing my adventures at the intersection of two very different worlds: the laboratory and the tennis court.
What to Expect Here
🧠 Computational Neuroscience — I’ll be writing about research concepts, paper deep-dives, and the experience of doing science at the intersection of math, biology, and computing.
🎾 Tennis — From technique breakdowns to tournament reflections, I’ll document my life as an amateur player who takes the game seriously.
📝 PhD Life — Honest reflections on the graduate school experience — the highs, the lows, and the lessons that show up unexpectedly.
A Little About Me
I’m fascinated by the question of how the brain encodes and processes information. My research uses mathematical models and data analysis to understand neural population activity — how groups of neurons work together to represent the sensory world and guide behavior.
Outside the lab, tennis has been part of my life since middle school. I love the strategy, the physical challenge, and the mental discipline the game demands.
If any of this sounds interesting to you, I hope you’ll stick around. Posts are coming soon!
